Located in the Pinheiros neighborhood of São Paulo, the project was designed to maximize the use of a property of about 26 m². Intended for short-term rentals, with the possibility of also accommodating the owners when they are in the city, the project sought to create a multifunctional environment capable of meeting the diverse needs of its occupants without overloading the space.

The main solutions came from the custom carpentry developed. The retractable bed, an element still not widely used in Brazil, is the centerpiece of the project. When closed, it frees up a large area of the apartment, allowing the space to be used in different ways and take on a flexible nature. Near the sofa, a sliding cabinet was designed to optimize storage in the unit without compromising the proposed layout, as the adjacent furniture could significantly obstruct access to the storage space. This flexibility is further enhanced by the creation of an "L" shaped piece, which functions not only as a side table for the sofa but also as a bench and a storage solution, with its built-in drawers.

An integrated layout was essential to increase the feeling of spaciousness in a small environment. Thus, the original balcony was incorporated into the main area to expand the usable space while maintaining good air circulation thanks to windows that run from one end of the unit to the other. To minimize the visual bulk of the air conditioning unit, a perforated matte white metal panel was used, which, combined with the conventional glass and aluminum insulation, prevents the equipment from becoming a visually or acoustically intrusive element.

In the bathroom, after studying the original layout, which had a small corner shower and a tiny semi-recessed sink, we realized that a significant area was being wasted by the swing of the hinged door. Therefore, by simply replacing it with a sliding pocket door, we were able to optimize circulation and significantly increase the size of the shower.

Aesthetically, the goal was to create a minimalist yet expressive environment that represents the clients' personality. The color palette is predominantly light, reinforcing the sense of wideness. However, elements such as the kitchen carpentry, the sofa, and the bathroom finishes contrast with their surroundings and with each other. The kitchen, in particular, is almost entirely in a leafy green tone, combining granite, hydraulic tiles, and cabinetry finished in matte-painted wood.

The apartment’s high ceiling of 3.70 meters was used to organize the space into two levels: the lower part, accessible without stairs, features mostly white finishes, while the upper section, with a cement-textured coating, breaks the monotony of the height and creates a cozier atmosphere with a subtle scale adjustment. The lighting also contributes to the project's color palette, with a trio of wall lights of different temperatures, creating a comfortable gradient of light across the white wall of the living room.

Together, the adopted solutions ensure an optimized and flexible space capable of meeting various needs without sacrificing its aesthetic expression.
