ARCHITECTURE SCULPTURE Sigurd Lewerentz / Petra Gipp at The Museum of Artistic Process and Public Arts
The physical body manifests itself like a section. A condensed vertical and horizontal motion, with displacements and overlays, forms a spatial context. Gaps, passages and sections open up towards the outer spaces, towards a world outside the body. Light and shadow are concentrated and depicts the dynamics, rhythm and silence of the inner spaces.
The mass and its weight encloses and separates, identifies itself more clearly and reveals details: each scratch, crack and cavity become bearing traces of life and existence. Material and light interplay, intertwine, and in the transition the connection appears like a crease in time, a passage that opens up to new spaces and worlds, inner as well as outer.
