This townhouse has five floors (four above grade) and is approximately 3,000 square feet. The renovation led by Gillian Gillies was focused primarily on the main and second and third floors, including upgrades on all interior finishes, furniture and furnishings. The main floor consists of a large living room, dining room, kitchen and powder room; the second floor has the principal suite; the third floor is dedicated to the guest suite and den; the fourth floor provides access to the deck; and the lower level has a family room, laundry and guest suite. All is accessible via elevator.

The home has ravine views and so the Gillian Gillies team wanted to bring the indoors in. Green is a featured colour in all its tones throughout the house. The walls are primarily painted a warm blush tone and there are accents of pink. It is a sophisticated palette with mixed metals and lots of texture and play. 
In the living room, the space is anchored with the fabulous chinoiserie inspired draperies – this gave the designer the colour palette for the main floor. The large pieces – the curved sofa and the carpet — are in a warm oatmeal colour and the other seating pieces are in tones of blush, pink and yellow with green accents. 
The dining room features an embroidered grasscloth wallpaper and the draperies that are edged with beaded tape.

In the kitchen, the designer had a local plaster artist design a mural of magnolia leaves and branches with hummingbirds. The millwork is ivory and green. 
The powder room has a botanical mural in green and linen.
In the principal floor, the colours are a little warmer – creams with accents of blues and terracotta’s which work so well with the client’s art and talk to the colour of tiles in the bathroom.

The staircase was redesigned with a simple metal handrail and spindles and the stair runner is a soft stripe in warm blush and yellow hues.
The overall atmosphere is very layered and immersive, yet not cluttered. There is harmony and grace in this fresh, understated and elegant home.
