While working with this family, our goal was to create an acquired, lived-in, European-inspired home and avoid having the home feel like brand new construction. We accomplished this by incorporating tons of rich textures, finishes and sourcing unique lighting and plumbing fixtures. The large windows allowed the spaces to be filled with natural light and focus on views of the forest outside.
We aimed to balance color, contrast and texture in each space. We also pulled lots of inspiration from nature and pulled the outdoors inside with natural finishes such as reclaimed wood beams, natural brass, wool rugs, slate floor tiles, white oak floors and aged brass light fixtures. The family values sourcing locally, and we do too! So we worked with dozens of local artisans to create custom art for the space and we even sourced lights that were fabricated locally. All in all, this space had to be beautiful, livable and durable for this family. The final result is a cozy home that feels warm and welcoming.
