The project refers to a private residence located in the suburbs of Limassol. The architectural composition is based on two separate compact building volumes that communicate, both visually and functionally, through a linear inner patio. The overall configuration allows for a continuous visual dialogue between interior and exterior space.
A defining element of the design is a circular route that begins at the entrance of the plot, forms the main entrance of the building and, by continuing around the central patio, passes through all of the primary areas of the residence. The patio splits the house in the two building volumes, while installing a fascinating landscape at the center of it. Large windows allow the natural light to penetrate in the interior space of the house, resulting in multiple kaleidoscopic views through the patio.
Bridges with planted roofs, allow the connection of the two main volumes on both ground and first floor levels, through an alternating sequence of indoor and outdoor spaces. This dynamic interplay of indoor and outdoor transitions creates a spatial experience emphasizing on transparency and layering.
Due to the inclined morphology of the plot, the outdoor areas are formed on multiple levels to serve the different functions of the house. On the south facade of the house an inner yard is formed at a lower level, which offers to the basement views outdoors. The parking area is located at the east part of the plot, on a lower level than the main yard, isolated from the leisure activities of the users. The main courtyard is organized in two levels, offering a tranquil view from the house towards the yard, that includes a linear swimming pool and multiple relaxing areas with different spatial qualities.
