In a prime location in the Porta de Sol condominium in São Roque, the latest creation by Carolina Penna Arquitetos is a refuge designed for a family that values social interaction. With 500 square meters, the house unfolds in layers that gradually reveal spaces integrated into the natural landscape.
The central concept of the project, inspired by the idea of "three times", provides a fluid transition between moments of family life, introspection and the individual experience of each family member. Thus, the residence balances social and private areas in a way that the spaces favor both interaction and privacy.

The region, characterized by small valleys and intermittent streams, directly influenced the design of the house. “The challenging topography was an opportunity to develop a house that respected the natural slope and offered stunning views of the preserved forest,” adds Penna.
As you enter the main entrance, at street level, the house gradually reveals its spaciousness. The circulation follows the natural slope of the land, where a main avenue connects the various spaces, creating a sense of discovery with each step. The social areas, located on the first plateau, are harmoniously integrated through large glass doors, allowing the view to extend to the surrounding nature.

Carolina Penna explains: “We wanted the project to reflect the family’s pace of life, a space to relax and socialize. The connection with nature, with its open views and the use of natural materials, creates a sense of calm and well-being.”

The house respects the land, adapting to the changes in level in an organic way. The social area is a meeting point, with spaces that visually connect and function as extensions of each other. The transparency of the divisions favors continuity between the interior and exterior, where the balcony and the pool complete the setting for moments of leisure.
On the lower level, the private area brings together five suites, each designed to offer comfort and functionality. Among them, the master suite with a home office and a suite for children, with bunk beds and a play area. The choice of materials and finishes follows the concept of simplicity and comfort, with wood and straw composing the details of the furniture.

Due to the steep slope of the land, it was possible to create a games room and a music studio under the volume of the private area, fulfilling one of the client's great passions. Further down, on the edge of the preserved forest, a sand court was designed for outdoor sports, providing even greater integration between leisure and nature.
Cross ventilation and natural light are valued throughout the project, taking advantage of patios and gardens to create a light and pleasant atmosphere. The large terrace, with a view of the preserved forest, invites moments of contemplation.

The project explores rustic and natural materials, such as light-colored broken stone on the floors of the social areas and rough stone on the walls and coverings. “We chose a palette of light, simple and natural materials to reflect the lightness and connection with the environment. The use of rustic textures and wood finishes reinforces the feeling of comfort,” explains Carolina.
“Our long-standing relationship with our clients has allowed us to deeply understand their needs and lifestyle, which has resulted in a project that reflects the family’s personality and pace,” adds Carolina. According to the owners, the house is a true “paradise,” where they find peace and joy on their weekends.
