Suspended between land and sea, the landscape of the project is the lagoon of Venice. The design project regards the TMCC museum and all the infrastructures of Sant’Erasmo island: new docks, squares, streets, bridges, car-parkings, a first-aid hospital and a water filtration plant. The project becomes a sort of threshold were landscape and architecture meet each other in the use of materials, memory, light and structure. In the water filtration plant four rough and one meter thick parallel walls, built in reinforced concrete coloured red with pigment, at the same time define structure and shape. The spaces between the concrete structures are closed by full-height wood panels in the same way of inside the TMCC museum. “Signs repeated will fix in ones mind”, as Calvino suggested in the Invisible Cities.
