It is a historic town with great cultural relevance. The Chapada Diamantina region offers a naturally tranquil environment, which directly influenced the project decisions. Even before discussing the project itself, it is important to contextualize the place where it is located.
The winery is positioned in front of the Serra do Sincorá, and from the very beginning we sought to minimize interior elements in order to enhance the external landscape, keeping nature as the main focus.
When the owner approached us to develop the interior design project for Vinícola UVVA, the architecture had already been defined by architect Vanja Hertcert, a specialist in wineries. Our work was therefore conceived to complement an enotourism venture whose architectural foundation was already fully established.
For the interiors, we started from the principle of contemplation. We did not want anything to compete with what truly matters: the site and the surrounding nature. We chose cement flooring, concrete surfaces, and exposed concrete columns, using materials in their most raw and simple form. The goal was to create a welcoming and elegant atmosphere, aligned with the identity of the winery.
The owner’s main requests when commissioning us for the interior architecture project were to integrate architecture, design, and nature, starting from the winery’s architectural project, while preserving the balance between rusticity, technology, and Brazilianness.
We met these expectations by developing an integrated and fluid interior proposal that enhances the view of the Serra do Sincorá and establishes harmony between rustic elements, technological solutions, and contemporary architecture, telling a unique story that pays tribute to the richness of the Chapada Diamantina.
The winery’s architecture had already been defined by architect Vanja Hertcert when we joined the project, and our scope was to complement and enhance the use of the spaces for the visiting public.
Our inspiration came from the strength of the natural landscape and from Vanja’s architecture, which already conveyed the grandeur of concrete and wood as fundamental elements.
The interior was conceived as a connecting link: a space where Brazilian authorial furniture, natural materials, and neutral tones create a sense of warmth without interfering with the original architectural experience.
