The brief was to create a family home for both daily life and entertaining, casual and formal. The client had lived in a fairly traditional home; Mitchell Freedland Design wanted to take this awareness from their previous lifestyle and inject a more contemporary esthetic. There is a synthesis of detailing and elements creating a harmony in this approach to the design.

It was a challenge to edit and curate the client’s existing furnishings and collections into a reimagined, more contemporary envelope. It truly was the success of the project to see how cohesive this union was, and how pleased the homeowner was with the elegant results.

Materials that were selected aid in bringing a connected vibe to the residence. Limestone slabs that were used on the exterior of the home were brought indoors to achieve a seamless visual connection with the exterior architecture. European oak flooring, lacquered millwork and casework, and a selection of marble slabs add to the classic and elegant feel the client desired, while the detailing keeps the house contemporary.
