The new developed building on Brunnenstraße in Berlin takes up typical the block structure of the neighboring buildings, which date back to the Wilhelminien period. On a gross floor area of 31,180 m² this building creates 144 micro apartments and 553 student apartments.
Facing the Brunnenstraße and Stralsunderstraße the buildings have each a height of eight floors. The typical Berlin structure received an offset facade through different depths of balconies and materials, as well through the vertical and horizontal outlines.
Behind the street facing buildings, there are two further buildings which leap back to 6 and 7 floors. Collecticely they form two inner courtyards in between these buildings, which give the residents an alternate recreation space with nature. The internal functions aim to create a hotel-like experience for students an residents, where all daily needs can be satisfied within the building.
Therefore, the interior design concept includes a large lounge area where students and residents can meet. In addition, each room has its own kitchenette and bathroom in an attractive, modern design. This creates a balance between community and retreat.
