Sustainability Report
Embodied carbon
Sustainability overview
- The project involves a transformation, modernisation, and redensification of the Blumberg school campus, integrating all existing buildings. Phase one is a newly constructed detached building. Phase 2 is the renovation and extension of existing buildings.
- All buildings on the campus are connected to a local heating network powered by an on-site cogeneration plant.
- The green roof is equipped with a photovoltaic system with a capacity of approximately 95 kWp.
Operational Emissions / Energy
The new building’s envelope complies with high insulation standards. The facade consists of wooden cladding on rigid wood fibre insulation boards and windows with triple glazing. The roof is constructed as a green roof on sloped insulation.
Afterlife
Adaptive Reuse and Flexible Design Considerations
The curtain-wall wooden cladding and wood fibre insulation boards can be disassembled when worn out. The concrete construction of the load-bearing structure remains unaffected and can be repurposed.
