Dura Patina is made primarily from silver fir sourced from the Allgäu, Black Forest, Vorarlberg, and Switzerland regions. The wood is sustainably harvested from controlled forests, and environmentally-friendly components are used for the surface.

Earth logs with a minimum diameter of 60-70 cm are used. These large tree dimensions allow the use of only rift and half-rift wood for most profiles, ensuring significantly greater dimensional stability.

Dura Sidings are only available in a rough-sawn finish. Unlike a smooth planing, the fine band-saw cut partially separates the wood along the natural grain. The fine band-saw cut is like splitting the wood – fewer capillary openings are created, thus ensuring greater dimensional stability and durability.

Silver fir is free from resin (resin galls), allowing for a highly durable surface finish. It is also knot-free, incredibly resilient, and elastic.
