Located on a historic road lined by old farms the Veldhuis seeks to be a contextually relevant modern home with traditional references. The typical Dutch barn typology, brick walls with a thatch roof, is modified to fit the needs of the family.  LMNL office The shape of the Veldhuis is an archetypal Dutch farmhouse, of which the height and width is lessened at the rear, allowing three stories in the front part of the house (bedrooms, study and attic) and one in the rear (living and dining).  The center of the house is made up of the kitchen, wet room, and garage. Op een afgelegen kavel in een veengebied heeft Mirck Architecture een atelier ontworpen. De binnenruimte is heel licht, in tegenstelling tot de donkere verschijning in het landschap. The Seaview House is located in the southern coast of County Wexford in Ireland, 700 meters from the sea coast and 4 km of the fishing village of Kilmore Quay. Isabel Barros Architects The brief for this project asked to convert the existing building into a bright contemporary/flamant style seaside bungalow. The existing bungalow was built in the mid-seventies. The layout was not functional and neglected the solar orientation and the fantastic sea views. For this house bordering an alleyway on a traditional Chicago lot, Kwong Von Glinow flips the traditional residential section, arraying bedrooms on the first floor and living spaces on the second. This approach supports contemporary ways of living, emphasizing communal areas, interconnectivity, and flexible live-work spaces that receive ample natural light and engage the surrounding urban context. At a villa with a large garden, this garden pavilion was designed as an annex. In addition to a hobby / billiards room, there is a storage room and a carport. The design is inspired by the case study houses from the 40’s-60’s of the last century. The building has a visible construction, the space flows from the inside to the outside and an cantilever running the entire length of the building connects the various functions. Where the case study houses were mainly a showcase of efficient, fast and cheap construction, in this pavilion the emphasis is on circular construction. The project was conceived within the parameters of the caravan act, meaning in most contexts it does not require planning permission. Designed by students from Diploma Unit 7 at the CASS and built by them in just 12 days it is an exemplar of not only low embodied energy design but the capacity of students to take on and deliver live projects as part of their education.   The design is 30m2 prototype for a scalable studio built on a budget of £10,000. Located in the ever-evolving Green Square precinct, the Waranara Early Learning Centre provides much needed day care for young residents in the local community. The project involves the adaptive reuse of a heritage-listed outpatients building into a 74 place Early learning space. A complex brief as well as a sensitive client has resulted in a challenging project. Careful attention has been placed on the overall useability of the Centre resulting in a cohesive and robust design bridging old and new. The Oak House School Baccalaureate Campus was completed in 2015 with Accoya® being used to build the facade of its new campus in Barcelona. Located next to an old villa in the school garden, the newly built campus was designed to provide functionality and character to a space used to prepare students for university. Designed by Trasbordo arquitectos, the facade of the building was created using several wooden Accoya® boards to provide natural ventilation and reduce the glare of the sun entering the classrooms. In the woods just north of the city of Arnhem a new neighborhood is being developed under the name 'Buitenplaats Koningsweg'. This former military site will be transformed into a cultural enclave. The complex known as 'De Scharnier', or in English 'The Hinge', is situated at the heart of the enclave. These interconnected buildings, erected at right angles to one another, used to accommodate the military theater in one 'leg' and the restaurant in the other, but have now become the home, workshop, and studio of a well-known artist. The new church tower in Bleibach has many identities. Final sequence of a gothic and modern church ensemble, landmark in the centre of three Black Forest valleys, viewpoint and bell tower. The essential design elements, consisting of steep roof pitch, triangular basic form and materiality are all derived from the church inventory.
