Classrooms for New Day School
New Day School is a migrant learning centre serving Burmese migrant and refugee communities in the Thai border town of Mae Sot. Since the last military coup on 1st of February 2021 the numbers of Burmese refugees and migrants crossing into Thailand have dramatically increased. Help without Frontiers Thailand is a community based organisation, that is supporting learning centres by providing essential funding for teacher salaries, lunches and school uniforms. Due to the limited funding, the support for new classroom buildings, sanitation facilities and overall infrastructure are often lacking.

Eternal house. Made of earth, lime, cork and wood
One of the two owners, a descendant of a family of potters and ceramists who preserved this tradition in the construction stage, proposed to build their house with the working material of their ancestors: clay and craftwork. The location of the site, next to the family ceramic workshop, facilitated the production of the adobes, updated in modern compressed earth blocks (CEB). The earth would be extracted from the usual location available in the area, located in the nearby municipalities of Puente del Arzobispo and Alcolea de Tajo. They would produce the blocks to build their own walls.

Oaxaca's Plúmula offers a workshop, meeting place, refuge, and home centered around a celebrated Flamboyán tree
In the City of Oaxaca, this project by Espacio 18 Arquitectura sees the transformation of a delipidated house and existing structure into a workshop, meeting place, refuge, and the home of a Flamboyán tree. The name of the project – Plúmula – refers to a plant's initial shoot or stem.

The homeowner, a plastic artist, requested that pre-existing adobe walls be retained. Alongside this, a light steel structure supports new leisure spaces, a ceramics workshop, and a bedroom. The steel structure reinforces the existing system and allows for tall sliding windows. The Flamboyán tree is always the protagonist in the design, with key views focused on it.

International School in Thailand integrates natural forms and materials with contemporary design and modern engineering knowledge
The Panyaden International School in Thailand identifies academic excellence along with closeness to nature as its key trademarks. Following these principles, Chiangmai Life Architects (CLA) undertook the design of several new buildings for the school that integrate natural building materials with contemporary design and modern engineering knowledge.
