Casa Justina

Casa Justina is a carefully crafted restoration of a historic residence built in the early 1900s. This project combines architecture and interior design, reviving the house's rich heritage while creating an inviting and cohesive space. Thoughtfully chosen materials play a vital role in this transformation, with elements like green stucco, clay, and traditional cement mosaics at the heart of the design.

The walls are covered with green stucco—a traditional, often-overlooked technique historically used on adobe structures. This material not only highlights the home’s origins but also enhances the interior’s freshness by allowing the adobe walls to breathe, preventing moisture buildup. Complementing the walls, the floors feature a striking green-and-white checkerboard pattern made with cement mosaic tiles, reflecting a timeless design and adding a sense of continuity throughout the residence.

Each room opens to the central patio, which provides natural light and ventilation, establishing a balance between openness and privacy. The patio also serves as a focal point for the home’s layout, connecting the spaces while maintaining each room's unique character. The result is a seamless blend of old and new, where traditional materials honor the building’s history, creating a space that feels both historic and contemporary.
