The main concept of the terminal was : “ A rambla for the people”, the recreation of a Mediterranean Street, enveloped by pines. Our proposal is based on the possibility of creating a contamporary and homogenous terminal building reusing the existing terminals, incorporating them in a single unit that is perceived as uniform. There are 6 main “architectural acts” over the existing buildings, in the areas that do not have great impact on ducts and existing structural elementes. This approach is economically advantageous if done with care, but also more sustainable and it increases the value of the proposal as it combines the values of the exsiting building with that of the additions, creating a unique character. The expansion of the Allama Iqbal Int’l Airport to hold 20 million passengers attempts to respect the functional and aesthetic values of the existing terminal. The instrument to achieve this relies on building around the existing terminal and leave a buffer zone to mediate between both buildings. This buffer zone is architecturally an open patio with a garden that will introduce light in both buildings and that it will be experienced from the different floor levels. The New Delta Terminal C at LaGuardia Airport in New York is a new terminal for Delta Air Lines that will replace their existing C and D Terminals. The new terminal will consist of 37 gates located on four concourses connected by a centralized check-in lobby, security checkpoint, and baggage claim. The Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and American Airlines (AA) stakeholders have recently moved towards a design of DFW’s Terminal C High C gates. The previous trailer solution that temporarily housed these gates for 40 years was recently demolished. Corgan is responsible for the interior finish-out of this project for AA.
