In the context of an increasingly growing trend of reactivating abandoned building stock in the centre of Athens, the apartment "Ochra" highlights the need for an original redesign at the core of contemporary architectural practice. Pangrati, where the apartment is located on the 4th floor of a 1970s apartment building, is one of the most vibrant and youthful urban neighbourhoods in Athens. The apartment is situated in the heart of a north city suburb. The scope was to refurbish the interior and open air verandas creating a place that allows both social and private use. Cohabiting with kids entails a space of flow and ease, which also integrates private areas of isolation. Apartment Refurbishment in Psychiko

This apartment, in the area of Psychiko, Athens, is located in the ground floor of a three-storey building, built in the year 1961.It went through some alterations and extensions of its spaces through the decades. While the original core consisted of approximately 60cm (2ft) thick stone walls, the extensions were constructed as a reinforced concrete structure with brick infills. Since a new residence was built on a neighbouring plot in the 2000s, there has been a change of the local groundwater line.We had to take protective measures to ensure that the apartment’s substance was not additionally endangered by rising damp.
