The apartment is located in an elegant 1960’s apartment building in the neighborhood of Neapoli, in the center of Athens. The objectives of the design intervention were to deal with the compartmentalized plan and poor lighting in the entrance and circulation spaces, while giving the apartment a second life that would let it retain its original identity and relationship with the era it was built. The existing layout was cluttered and lacked efficient planning, limiting its ability to meet daily living requirements. The word "Aakar" itself means shape or form which is vastly reflected in the interior design of this apartment. The goal was to convert a bright studio apartment measuring 9.60 m x 3.25 m into a one-room apartment suitable for a family of three through precise design.
