Txai Bungalow

Located in Itacaré, on the southern coast of Bahia, Txai Bungalow occupies an elevated slope facing the sea. From the site, the view opens almost 180 degrees over the ocean, above the existing palm and coconut trees. Isolated in the middle of nature, the house is organized through a direct relationship with the topography, the vegetation, and the climate. Lupércio Fotografia Lupércio Fotografia Lupércio Fotografia Lupércio Fotografia In this place, what matters is shade. The seawater, the coconut trees, and the light filtered through their leaves guided the main design decisions. This idea appears most clearly in the roof of the social space: a glass structure protects the room, while... More

Casa Tao

Some houses are not designed—they are remembered. Casa Tao was not born from a technical drawing, but from the silent memory of those who inhabit it. It is a house that does not seek to respond to an image, but to a life. Or rather: to a way of living.  Gustavo grew up in a humble house made more of effort than of materials. The son of farmers and craft merchants—people with rough hands and generous eyes—who, though their studies were prematurely interrupted, managed to instill in him a desire to understand the world. He grew up in Puerto Vallarta, a place on the Pacific coast of Mexico, where sun and humidity define the rhythm of the days, and where shade is not an accident, but a precious asset—a true refuge.... Casa en el cielo

Casa en el cielo is located in Mazatlán, Sinaloa. The project design proposal is born from the user's needs and the inclined topography of the land, which will define the main access on the first level; generating a private space on the ground floor that is made up of a bedroom and a bathroom illuminated and ventilated by a private patio. Caption Caption Caption Caption The combination of materials creates an atmosphere of warm and clean environments that favor the visual finishes that are found throughout the project: Gray tones that contrast with the oak wood, as well as the use of proportions in the geometry of the project such as the golden section that can be found in various spaces of the project. Tom Ferguson Tom Ferguson Facing the sunrise from which the project draws its name, the project renews a home for a family enthusiastic about surfing at the nearby bay. A material palette of pale masonry and timber echoes the project’s coastal site, whilst a robust expression of elements recalls the essential simplicity of visits to the beach. Tom Ferguson Tom Ferguson Tom Ferguson The project draws on the tradition of sheltered portico spaces; open to the outdoors but offering shade and respite from the elements. Casa Brise

Located in Praia do Forte, Bahia, the project was planned based on a proposal of earth tones so that the house would blend in with the colors of the surrounding nature. The facade is composed of large panels of frames, pergolas, and decorative panels, all in wood. Manuel Sá Manuel Sá Manuel Sá Manuel Sá As wood is the predominant material, natural wood is a present element in almost every room of the house, whether in the frames, slatted ceilings, decks, or through the furniture. Manuel Sá Manuel Sá Manuel Sá Manuel Sá This project is characterized not only by the parametric wooden facade elements but also by innovative window solutions, such a... More

Casa Primeriza

Primeriza House is located on a small clearing of an otherwise heavily sloped terrain with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean to the front and a strong backdrop of almost vertical slope densely populated by cypress trees. Marcos Zegers Marcos Zegers Our clients wanted to make the most of outdoor living, and one of their key requirements was to create many opportunities to inhabit the exterior. Another was to create various different environments, nooks and crannies, and moods inside the house. These two, combined with the plot and weather conditions, shaped the volume of the house and its many transitional spaces.  Marcos Zegers Marcos Zegers The house conquers the slope and inserts firmly into the terrain by mea... PAUL CREMOUX studio PAUL CREMOUX studio The houses on the access side appear as two simple pavilions constructed with a modular wooden structure, while on the other side, they are perceived as two massive concrete volumes. House in Murcia

This single-family house is located in the Region of Murcia, in a residential area of semidetached, modern and eminently white houses. From a distance, its clear and avant-garde appearance seeks to integrate the house with the rest of the surrounding dwellings. A travertine-effect porcelain tiles offer this clear and luminous vision, but in its proximity, it confers the texture, warmth and naturalness typical of stone materials. When the commission was received, the structure of the house was already in built and the volumetric conception was half defined; however, the previous project did not fully convince its future owners. Manuel Garcia's design is based on respect for this initial idea and focuses on its materiality. The aim is to pres... More

House of Toninhas

Located in the city of Ubatuba, about 230km from Sao Paulo, this summerhouse is on a steep slope and in the presence of a dense Atlantic Forest, circumstances that led the project to a dialogue between the design and the exuberant nature of the surroundings. Adriano Pacelli The terrain imposed a structural challenge and the steep slope and a large number of rocks and native vegetation made access difficult and prevented the view of the sea. Adriano Pacelli Thus, the access to the house was designed to overcome the natural obstacle imposed by the terrain itself, guiding the user through the transition between the Atlantic Forest and the ocean view. A walkway marks the axis from the entrance of the house to the destination:... More

Casa Pérgola

“Casa Pérgola” was created from the clients need of ample space to receive friends and family. Large balconies are a key feature of this family orientated home. With contemporary style, driven by tropical architecture and open spaces, the house benefits from blurred interior and exterior boundaries. The maximum use of natural light and ventilation were also key drivers.  Manuel Sá The construction project was designed to adapt to its natural landscape through the use of natural materials, like wood and stone and also by adding neutral colours to the facades, creating a real gem in its surroundings. Manuel Sá The design approach was based on a modular architecture, incorporating generous balc... More

Mollymook Beach House

After seeing how we’d refurbished and renewed their friend’s beach shack home at Burrill Lake, on NSW’s South Coast, our clients engaged us to work some similar magic on their ‘unusual’ home at nearby Mollymook Beach. The Palm Co. While the house was set on a flat 680sq m block just one road back from the beach, the existing dwelling had some challenges. Inside, the house was dark, with a compromised, multi-levelled floorplan featuring one and a half bedrooms and no real connection to the generous backyard. Weird would be a polite way of describing the layout. The Palm Co. The late 1970s house had also been given an ill-thought-out internal makeover in the 1990s which was beginning to look tired and... House Acute

A modest wedge shaped parcel of land on the edge of a coastal bluff inspired a robust angular-shaped holiday home. Two long off form concrete pavilions follow the long edges of the site and meet at the site’s most prominent corner, rising up from the native landscape not unlike the natural sandstone escarpments in the locality. The concrete walls of both levels are articulated in their respective textures, and form humble backdrops to the surrounding landscape, both new and existing.  Brett Boardman Brett Boardman Internally the home is as comfortable and intimate for 2 as it is for 10 persons, with a range of separate living spaces to retreat to within the acute spaces (ocean side) of the plan. A roof terrace enables... More
