Adl-Mecone office facade and interior

The project consists of a four-story commercial building in Ernakulam, India. The design called for efficiency-oriented structure with minimal sacrifice for aesthetics. Being in a tropical humid climate, a climate responsive façade was required to reduce operating costs. These criteria led to the conception of a perforated Corten steel curtain wall encompassing the four-story structure. In the context of an indistinguishable concrete fabrication, the building ensures a rigid identity and a probable landmark.   Facade The façade is made using weathering steel-a steel alloy which forms a stable rust-like appearance after exposure to weather for several months. The rusting process facilitated by the forces of nature and p... More

Project • By Manetti Gusmano & figli - Sannini ImprunetaOffices

The project includes the study of an exhibition volume that contains various functions, from showrooms to conference rooms and offices. The area's architectural language is morphologically inspired by the diamond and the idea is to design a project that creates a dynamic space, but also breaks the static configuration of the adjacent buildings. The building is designed as an engraved cube rising from the ground that defines two volumes sculpted in the geometries. The indoor space develops from a conventional system of overlapping floors served by central cores that make the areas near the front completely accessible. The shell is composed of a front covered with an innovative ceramic material that contrasts with the part of the front’... More

The Feng Shui Stone House

In the area of Apokoronas and more specifically at the village of Gavalochori, in an area outside the settlement with a slight slope, we designed and built a two-level house with a basement and a swimming pool. The house is 511m2 and the construction time is 2019-2020.  The central idea of the house is based on the philosophy and principles of feng shui, as well as bioclimatic design. The central design is by four stone walls of different lengths which divide the house into three areas. Starting from the east ground floor, between the first two stone walls, we have the living room and the dining room and the office upstairs, looking at the double height of the living room. Three orthogonal frames of different shape and size made... More

Project • By LPzR architetti associatiHousing

A few steps from Parco Sempione, the green heart of the city of Milan, LPzR architects have designed a new “nearly zero energy” (nZEB) residential building, with innovative technological solutions and a swimming pool on the roof.   “Urban stitching” is the concept. The architects wanted to design a new link between two extremely heterogeneous buildings: a three-storey school complex from the 1800s, and an eight-story residential building from the 1960s. The new volumes align carefully with the adjacent buildings, to fit morphologically into the pre-existing architectures. The compositional language, on the other hand, is admittedly contemporary, even if there are references to traditional architectural element... More

The Gate

In 2012, PHASE3 clinched an international competition to redesign the façade of this existing shopping mall in Kuwait City. The competition set out that the proposal needed to accommodate a key restraint: the building was already under construction. We developed a new façade system for the building that could respond to the vibrant local context and become an event in itself. The façade, which measures an overall length of 300m, was constrained to a depth of 50cm. Despite having little room to manoeuvre, we developed a single, meaningful gesture that integrates the massive, solid volume of the mall to its surroundings. The GRC façade and its circular pattern set a strong design principle. The exterior is readabl... More

Serenada Shopping Centre

Usually, shopping galleries are large structures, in the majority of cases located in urban and central urban areas. These are typically introvertive concepts, where shops are located along interior promenades. Such functional solutions cause the massive facades of these structures to be “dead” in general, they do not provide a field for interacting with the public space, which is so important for the human dimension of the urban space. The design of the SERENADA gallery, which is located in the area of Olsza, at Dobrego Pasterza Street, is an attempt to surmount the statically neutral façade by employing means of artistic expression stemming from contextual cultural and meaning-related grounds in relation to the structure’s own name. There a...
