Located on a corner lot in the Little Forest Hills neighborhood, this residence is shaped as much by its constraints as by its opportunities. The dual frontage introduced a series of restrictions—setbacks, visibility, and exposure—but also opened up a unique condition: the ability to redefine how the house meets the street. This house is located on a privileged plot of 15,000m2 densely populated with pine and oak trees. Can concrete appear as thin as paper and defy gravity?A cantilevered, ultra-thin concrete roof challenges gravity—not as an artificially generated image that ignores physical laws, but as a real built structure in an ordinary garden. With this 53-square-meter garden pavilion, FACE and DUCON bring ultra-high-performance concrete from the lab into practice, allowing it to float delicately. D House strives to reflect a sophisticated balance of modern architectural elements by seamlessly integrating form, function, and nature. With the intentional use of linearity at the core of its design, the sharp lines of the walls and roof planes create a harmonious flow of space. The project consists of a three-story family apartment building, featuring two flats with three bedrooms each and a top-floor apartment with three bedrooms and a mezzanine level. All apartments offer two ensuite rooms and a master bedroom, along with open-plan kitchen, dining, and living areas. The rooftop garden is accessible to all residents, creating a shared outdoor space. The building comprises three houses: a main family house with three bedrooms, an open living kitchen, and dining room; a small family home with one bedroom, an open kitchen, and living room; and a guest studio and garage, which have direct access from the main street via a staircase.
