Perkins Eastman’s Shanghai studio, located in the heart of the historic former French concession, provides a design “workshop” environment for 50 creative professionals and staff. From their 38th floor space, sweeping views are emphasized, connecting the studio with city life and the inspiring Shanghai skyline. Our work for Kaufman, one of the leading importers and distributors in the fields of health, comfort, design and lifestyle in Israel, was full of creativity. Kaufman Group is steadily expanding in all directions, from the web to brick and mortar. The newly created logistical center for the Kaufman space needed to depict this growth, as well as house and showcase all of its brands. Our work for the Colegio de Gestores Administrativos de Valencia starts with offering a new office concept for their centralized traffic service headquarters. The premises from which we started had been reformed more than 20 years ago, so this project has been an innovation challenge with the intention of improving their work space and designing a welcoming office adapted to today's needs. The main objective has been to transmit elegance and closeness through the contrast of noble materials such as wood, and more contemporary materials such as black profiles and micro cement. This office is an Oasis in the middle of a desert. The staff here was sitting in a very unkempt space devoid of natural light. There was a lot of chaos and hence lack of orientation. We took it up as a clean slate and exposed the beautiful metal and stone ceiling that had been covered with grid tiles. We developed a clean straight design to bring a sense of calmness in contrast to the high stress levels associated with the job.    The unnecessary divisions were brought down and workstations were arranged in an open plan. Mozhdeh office building is located in a ​​440 square meters site on Mozhdeh street in the former location of Niavaran police station. The client asked a commercial unit on the ground level with 80% occupancy and providing administrative units in upper stories with 60% occupancy. After the initial study, the issues that the design team considered, was program, tectonic and construction norm. The common plan of administrative and commercial projects for maximum use of the land causes the inefficient plan, so we have decided to change the project’s program. Daarbast Café is about 376 square meters. The main goal of its interior design is creating social interaction among people. The possibility for establishing other branches of the café in future was considered in order to fulfill the owner’s request. Scaffolds are used as the main structure of design which grants an identity to the space. A part of the exterior wall is destroyed to benefit from sun light and natural views. The scaffold provided the context in which we could increase the area of the space and create visual transparency.
