The island of the sun is located on Lake Titicaca, considered thehighest lake in the world. This island presents great elevation changes in which spaces with different environments and views originate in which the breadth of the lake can be observed. This place is considered a sanctuary dedicated to the God of the Sun. Throughout the island there are some trails that run from north to south through its places, ruins, viewpoints and towns that end at the lowest levels, bordering the shores of the lake. The intervention proposes an extension of these paths, a walk that enters the lake, as if it were the lake itself. One of these problems is the rapid melting of polar ice caps, which has serious consequences for the environment and the future of mankind. One of the major concerns of melting polar ice caps is the risk of extinction of many animals, including penguins. The presence of ice is vital for their life and spawning. Located in the Italian Pianura Padana, at the urban edge of a small country town facing a river, Villa Orizzonte blends in with the surrounding landscape seeking maximum integration with the environment, also thanks to its southward orientation and privileged view toward the river. lahznimmo architects were engaged by RMS in 2016 to provide lead consultancy services for the redevelopment of the Elizabeth Bay Marina. The existing facility was is in a deteriorated condition and in need of replacement. The reason to do a floating house is related to the sheer amount of water (partly threat, partly landscape) available in the Netherlands. There are plans being developed by the Dutch government to built whole neighborhoods floating on water. We would like to contribute to that and additionally show how to solve that in a sustainable way where the water/landscape aspects gets tightly interwoven with the architecture and energy concept of our house. The Float Home is situated on Lake Union, and inhabits what was one of the last unoccupied slips. The Seattle Houseboat and Float Home community is unique: the residents share access and live in close proximity to one another, yet there is a community diversity that is unrivaled. Some of this stems from the fact that the community was not developed at any one time, while some can be attributed to the immensity of style that adorns these homes (you don’t see a ton of fabric architecture here). This tautly designed houseboat floats in the Amstel river of Amsterdam. The clients wanted a boat with an open floor plan where they could enjoy the views to the water and the outdoor space to a maximum. The distinguished curved line of the facade directly derives from this desire and the restriction that the boat couldn’t be more than three meters above the water.
