OTLO, was an exhibition curated by Ashiesh Shah and Tejas Mangeshkar was a pop up project showcasing Indian design with a focus on technology and sustainability on view from 11th to 16th of March, 2013. The exhibit titled 'Cellular Fission - Media Panel' is a prototype for a media facade; which is part of the studio's ongoing research in paper architecture systems.The proposed system can function as a external skin for a structure providing shade for the interior space and allows the external surface to be used as a media facade. Royal Enfield Lamp

The 'Royal Enfield' brand has been an icon among motorcycle enthusiasts in India since early Independence. As the only genuine touring motorcycle manufactured in India, the bike is a metaphor for endurance and reliability. It is one of the few motorcycle brands in India that promote itself as a lifestyle. The piece uses an old Royal Enfield motorcycle headlight. The headlight is customised with additional bolts and metal plates to add some weight to the fixture. The lamp base is base out of recycled metal and a thick metal plate for counterbalance. The Lamp is availiable on a made to order basis and can be customised in finishes and size. More

Refrigerator Table I

The concept of the Refrigerator table originated at a friend's apartment in Turku, Finland. Both were architects doing their internship there and staying at an apartment rented out to them by their carpenter. They needed a drafting table to work on drawings which essentially was a flat stable surface. The architect under whom they were employed gave them a scrap refrigerator door for the purpose. The concept of using recycled materials for furniture originated from there. The table consists of a vintage Kelvinator door, its condenser coils and metal procured from various scrap markets of Mumbai. Origami Cafe

A cafe designed using 'Origami' as the interior concept was proposed as a low cost design solution for the project located in Andheri (East), Mumbai. The project brief was a to design a coffee house that could expand to take-away fast food and desserts as future expansion phases. The cafe combines origami inspired folding furniture, wall and ceiling elements with minimalist finishes to give a sophisticated look to the space. Scale prototypes for the experiemental cafe finishes furniture were created to test their usability. More

Casablanca is a young and dynamic city in Morocco with a population estimated at approximately 4 million inhabitants. It is the largest city in the Maghreb and the fourth largest in Africa. Being an important economic center, its architecture is a combination of different styles which gives it a unique architectural beauty. The aim of this International Competition was to design a New Sustainable Market Square in Casablanca.The design had to create a new contemporary social space where locals can meet and shop and generate the discussion and ideas about the functionality of community and street commerce. The Kala Ghoda Arts Festival is an annual festival, held in late January or early February, in the Kala Ghoda area of South Mumbai, India. From its inception in 1999, the Festival has grown in stature and popularity, attracting visitors and participants from other parts of the country, and the world. The Festival is organised by the Kala Ghoda Association (a non-profit organisation that states its objectives as "physically upgrading the Kala Ghoda sub-precinct and making it the Art District of Mumbai". Empezar Container Freight Station

Empezar is one of the leading logistics companies at the rapidly expanding port in Mundra, Gujarat. With their immediate need for an administration building, the proposal also considers converting one of their storage yards into a Container Freight Station, with future warehousing and yard expansion possibilities. The building is constructed out of locally availbile brick which helps in insultating against extreme temperatures faced in the Mundra region. Stategically placed, wind-towers, wind-scoops and water bodies form a system of passive air conditioning for the building, reducing the power requirement. More
