The refurbished home is in a Valencia city centre building. Built around 1900, it has wooden beams and joists, ceramic vaults and solid brick walls. After 1900, the building underwent full refurbishment in order to reinforce the original structure adding a metal reinforcement structure. Germán Cabo Our refurbishment will aim to bring all those hidden ribs of the building out into the open. Elements that for a long time were generally placed behind a false wattle ceiling due to the little aesthetic value they held. This 80 m² property was built in 1930, with highly compartmentalised spaces and inner rooms with no ventilation to the outside. This home in the Patraix district, to the south of Valencia, required a refurbishment that would adapt to the young couple’s reality. The starting point was therefore defined as extending spaces to enhance natural light and cross-ventilation within the home. Our proposal is based on an architectural design that combines all spaces, making them more permeable and better connected. It seeks a wood-covered element to unify the home, featuring from west to east, and which contains much of the programme. The apartment is in Penha de França neighbourhood in Lisbon, located on the 1st floor of a 5 storey residential building, from the 50s. It’s a 3 bed apartment with a quite uncommon shape. It’s structure is composed of perimeter thick load bearing masonry external walls with very thin concrete slabs, and interior structure walls of solid bricks.The purpose of the refurbishment project was to respect its structure and system build, and implement a better internal organization of spaces, by eliminating the zig-zag route from one end to the other, giving functionality and contemporary living to residents.The interior was designed to express the openings of the structural walls with timber frames. Located in a multi-sports complex in the neighborhood of Sant Oleguer, the stadium, with its capacity for some 2,500 spectators, is the principal piece in the ensemble. As such it represents an important reference point for the city and at the same time the building has great symbolic significance for its citizens.The site is a long and narrow plot with a significant slope and a marked asymmetry. The building would adapt itself to the site and at the same time its impact on the landscape would be minimized. Situated in front of Collserola, the mountain range that marks the western limit of Barcelona, the Vall d’Hebron hospital complex is one of the most important and largest healthcare centers in Spain.The brief for this annex to the area of Traumatology was based on the creation of a new department for patients with burn injuries. The gymnasium that had been standing on the rather constricted site had been demolished and all that remained of it was the basement in which the department’s archives were stored.
