The methodology proposed for the El Salitre Community Center in Zapotlanejo proposes the midpoint between the technical and artisanal processes that come together in the architectural work. The project assumes the construction of a building as a collective activity and understands the work as an experimental production process, where efficiency is achieved by saving resources through its adaptation. Plan B Guatemala was created in response to the disaster caused by the Volcán de Fuego eruption in June 2018. The ASIAPRODE Association initiated the project to construct 26 homes in order to cover the needs of the affected communities. In an open competition, DEOC Arquitectos came up with a proposal that meets the established requirements, the user’s profile, and the natural context. The project consists of a permanent housing model for the displaced families: a 86m2 house within a plot of 8m by 19m. “Casa dos Caseiros”was first created to answer a private order for a social interestdwelling project to be built numerouslythroughout some cities in Rio de Janeiro state.
