The project for the ARTFX Campus, a pioneering school internationally renowned in the field of digital arts and the cinema professions, is located within the Paine-Images, an outstanding site devoted to the image and to the creative industries of the Métropole Européenne de Lille. Philippe Chancel The building was designed to fit perfectly into the urban context of which it is part: the project’s proportions and height echo the dimensions of the surrounding buildings in a four-way dialogue with the neighbouring creative sites. The project for the new LICAM is based on the idea of a measured building, with simple volumes and characterized by a facade that plays on the rhythm and proportions of architectural elements. In particular, the facade design is based on different sizes of vertical and horizontal trapezoidal elements that define a frame that shows the structural nature of the building. SET Architects The shell highlights an alternation of solids and voids where the concrete's materiality contrasts with the glass's transparency and lightness. Bassetti designed a renovation and addition of the Vancouver School for Arts and Academics (VSAA). Bassetti worked with Vancouver Public Schools to re-orient the front of the school, while adding many important elements such as a new administrative block, additional science laboratories, re-purposing old spaces into new classrooms, a black-box theatre and commons, and a secure courtyard area. In working with stakeholders to understand the needs of the school, it was clear that the renovation needed to increase parking at the school, while also creating new points of entry and exit for a more efficient site design and increased school community. The Escola Britânica de Artes Criativas is located within a building designed by Isay Weinfeld in the bohemian district of Vila Madalena in Sao Paulo.The main idea was to create a school with a community spirit, a space which the students would consider their own and be inspired to create in. We wanted to surprise them, to immerse them in an interesting environment, but to leave some spaces as a blank canvas.The space of the school resembles a giant playground with abstract objects scattered around at random.
