M_01: Reinterpreting the Contemporary Tatami

By reducing architectural expression to its essential elements, M_01 transforms the traditional exhibition booth into a quiet, multisensory haven inspired by Japanese spatial philosophy. Unveiled at Marbella Design & Art 2026, M_01 addresses a common paradox of temporary fairs: trade show environments often overwhelm visitors with visual noise, forcing spaces to compete for attention within seconds. Commissioned by high-end joinery workshop Ramos y Cobos, Studio Vanesa Casas was tasked with showcasing the workshop's technical capabilities without resorting to a conventional, product-heavy display. The primary challenge was to craft a temporary installation that stood out precisely by slowing down the visitor experience, balancing stric... More

Jun Matcha Club

Located within a former residential garage in South Jakarta's Panglima Polim neighbourhood, Jun Matcha Club responds to the area's growing concentration of independent cafés and restaurants, offering a slower, more contemplative spatial experience centred around the ritual of preparing matcha. The project draws from the values embedded in matcha practice—ritual, attentiveness, and restraint—and translates them through Indonesian craftsmanship and locally sourced materials. Ma Mondadori bookstore

In 2021, Studio Ricciardi Architetti was commissioned by the Mooks Group to develop a new brand identity and architectural concept for a chain of bookstores to be launched throughout Italy. Francesco Paduano Francesco Paduano “Ma” is a Japanese concept that refers to a pause, an interval, or an empty space in which the mind can rest and the spirit can be renewed. It can therefore be understood as a moment to pause and devote oneself to reflection, the surrounding environment, reading, and culture. Francesco Paduano Architect Selene Amico, a collaborator at Studio Ricciardi Architetti, introduced and explained the concept of Ma to the firm’s partners. Having already explored Ma in her own research project,... More

Noir - Coffee Shop

NOIR Abbesses is conceived as an immersive interior inspired by a walk through woodland undergrowth — an enveloping atmosphere shaped by organic forms, layered textures and a palette drawn from autumn foliage. The design translates the natural language of the forest floor into soft, sculptural seating elements, whose rounded geometries subtly recall mushroom forms. These organic volumes guide the spatial experience, creating a sense of movement and discovery throughout the space. Isabela Mayer A dialogue between contemporary design and traditional craftsmanship defines the project. The bar counter is carved entirely from solid stone, shaped directly from the mass to reveal the material’s depth and natural irregularities w... More

Pezzo Console Table

Pezzo Console Table bridges traditional craftsmanship with contemporary sculptural expression. The pezzo series of tables and storage expresses a balance of soft, curving forms - with the rigidity and refinement of hard materials. The metal clad sides frame the surface while custom handmade ceramic tiles celebrate their subtle imperfections, variation, and sheen. The series sought to create a contemporary design language that is minimal yet expressive, bringing together craft, modularity, and modern sensibility in one cohesive system. More

Atelier Matière Première – Nu Drom

Since 2016, Matière Première Architecture and its sister company Nu Drom, a construction firm, have worked in close partnership. Their shared ambition was to find a permanent site that could embody their identity — an identity defined by the seamless integration of design and construction. They acquired a site at the entrance to Magog, a lakeside town in Quebec’s Eastern Townships, where, together with a partner from the woodworking industry, they established an atelier rooted in architecture, craft, and ecology. Alex Lesage   Atelier Matière Première – Nu Drom Nestled within a pine-covered site along Highway 10, the main route linking Montréal to the Eastern Townships, and o... More
