This complex and fascinating puzzle of different cubes evolves on a sloping clearing in the forest near Frankfurt, Germany. The basic idea of the design uses the sightlines of two old trees standing on the property and benefits, apart from the general views of the surrounding nature, also from the skyline of Frankfurt. Along these lines of sight, cubes of different proportion are piled up around the central core of the staircase. With a height of nine metres throughout the entire building, this “heart of the house” serves as an exhibition space for the client’s alternating artwork, exposed through a skylight. The Yahvi Residence is located in Coimbatore amidst three built forms. The design emphasis was on open spaces to facilitate abundant lighting and proper ventilation. This is achieved through a  central courtyard and skylight that forms the core of the house. The courtyard is the beating heart of the house in bringing the family together, connecting the various rooms, and serves as the perfect backdrop for family celebrations and events. Today, the attention of the architects in the city is more focused on the wealthy areas and there is a lack of innovative projects in such poor areas. The site context’s situation is in decline, and architecture is being oblivious, which has affected the city fabric structure and visual aspect of the region. The “Apartment SS” project included a complete adaptation of the apartment located in Banovo Brdo disctrict (Belgrade), in a residential building from the 1960s. The works took nearly a year and included architectural and furniture design as well as full supervision of the process.The client, a young choreographer, wanted to turn a somewhat shabby old apartment, that was almost untouched since the time in which it was built, into a strongly personalized, modern and aesthetically boldly shaped living space.The functional challenge was fitting an entry hall with a wardrobe and a shoe closet, a kitchen with a dining room, a bedroom with a makeup table and a dresser, and a living room, into a small surface area of 51 square meters.As a result,... Theis and Khan is a London-based architecture group that designs everything from churches to shops, art galleries to health centers, offices to housing developments and more. One of their recent works was an expansive mixed-use building: 3 floors of commercial space with 4 residential units above. As it turns out, the exacting clients for this particular space were themselves.
