Scape

Manila-based architectural firm ASYA Design has completed an 11-storey mixed-use building in MOA Complex, a reclaimed developing town located south of Manila. Fittingly described as The Scape, after its inception from the landscape and seascape ripple forms – an ode to the natural setting before the project was realized. Built on a reclaimed area, the inspiration for the building’s façade was drawn from the ripples of water entrenched on the sandy shores of Manila Bay. The undulating patterns found on the building’s skin mimic the shape of the sea as it slowly drifts off. Fo Guang Shan Temple

Project Name: Fo Guang Shan Temple ( Mabuhay Temple) Location: Malate Manila Client: International Buddhist Progress Society Manila Set to be the largest Buddhist temple in the Philippines, Fo Guang Shan Temple rises above the 2,678 square meter property along Pablo Ocampo St. behind Century Hotel. Designed as a center for religious, cultural, humanitarian and educational development, the Temple serves as a monumental structure reliving Buddhism. It also provides people a solemn place for meditation and prayer. Upon viewing the building, the massing of the temple can be imagined as a towering laughing Buddha. More

SMDC Grand Showroom Once seen, the SMDC Grand showroom automatically becomes a landmark. Located in the SM Mall of Asia complex, the signature blue color of their Blue project contrasts the stark white letters that has branded their properties. The SM Development Corporation is the top grosser in the real estate industry in the Philippines. To distinguish their display from their competitors, the angular form challenges the boxy stereotype that most properties have. Manila-based architectural firm ASYA Design has moved in to their 12-storey office building in MOA Complex, a reclaimed developing town located south of Manila. Fittingly named as “A Place”, after its inception from the landscape and seascape ripple forms – an ode to the natural setting before the project was realized. The 23-year old architectural firm is putting their focus on the green market and proving that building green is attainable.
