A dramatic volumetric exploration, The Interlock Lobby is the public-facing circulation hub strategically placed at this large, mixed-use development’s ground plane. The two-story space is located at the crossroads of a hotel and multiple retail and office tenants. Morningside’s brief was direct - create a private, resort-like forever home for a professional couple. Two simple forms sit effortlessly atop a concrete foundation on a steep and narrow site. These forms belie an open interior that contains ample amounts of public entertaining and intimate private space, centered around a private pool deck. Structure plays a key role, as the home expresses how it was built, and materials were chosen for durability and tactility. Lunch & learn “We came into contact with Corgan, the contractor behind the project via the American Institute of Architects (AIA) ‘lunch & learn’ sessions.
