Upcycle lamp Twist

'Upcycle Lamp’ is a series of lamps made by Benjamin Spöth. Carefully crafted from leftover high quality birch plywood. Such a pity to throw away all the leftovers at the wholesale – the designer thought – and started cutting down the two and a half meter long pieces into millimeter thin slices. These slices assembled in different ways makes a family of five lamps: three rather smaller and two bigger versions. While playing around with different pieces, the lamps finally got their shape. Multiplex wood is an interesting material to work with for a lampshade. Every second layer of the plywood shines the light through the material due to the thin slices in combination with the structure of the grain. Some parts of the lamps are steamed bef... More
