This project transforms a former rural stable in Vienna into a contemporary restaurant while preserving the spatial identity of the original structure. Rather than erasing its past, the design builds on the existing volume, using it as a framework for a new program and social experience. The project brief called for the transformation of a dormant brewing space beneath a restaurant into a distinct, immersive bar inspired by the evocative mythology of the Blue Rock Swim Club. More than a spatial renovation, the challenge lay in crafting a compelling historical narrative within a context—and a city—largely defined by new-build construction and a lack of historical preservation.
