OXO Beachhouse takes the space of a previously existing restaurant, the most important need of the client was to open up the space to create a central bar that would serve as the main gathering point of the space. Our solution was to create an "all-around" bar that gives service to the dining area, but also creates a reception bar that allows for a waiting bar where people can order drinks and mingle before being sat at their table. 

In order to make the bar be the centerpiece of the restaurant, we created a mirrored upside-down pyramid that acts as a "marquee" that pulls your eye into the center of the space. This form is a great aesthetic feature, but also allows us to deal with the change of height that happens between reception space and dining space. The bar steps out gradually reflecting the ambient lighting, making the space change from daytime dining to nighttime party.

In the summertime the main dining area pours outwards towards the terrace and secondary bar and during the wintertime it acts as a lantern towards the outside walking space.
