A simple cube built from prefabricated, locally sourced concrete elements, Roche Multifunctional Workspace by Christ & Gantenbein demonstrates how the company culture has transitioned from functional industrial space to a human-centred workplace that places interaction and teamwork within a rational and industrial framework.

Located on a campus site in Genzach-Whylen, Germany, the new building responds to its context and its interstitial spaces with a series of plazas and a highly rational architectural vocabulary. Evoking an ‘industrial palazzo’ the façade comprises horizontal bands of aluminium panels, mullions, and ribbon windows that permit multiple visual connections.

Armitage Residence
The Armitage Residence is located twelve miles south of Whistler. The site lies at a forest clearing at the edge of a seasonal marsh that expands, in the rainy season and contracts, in the hot dry summer. There is dramatic view of the Coast Mountains and the extinct volcanic peak of Black Tusk, to the east.
The structure rests on a bedrock swale between several large boulders and is organized as two parallel rectangular forms shifted in plan to create a sheltered forest side entry and an open plan oriented east to the view. The materials are straightforward: concrete masonry block walls, polished concrete floors on the main level, engineered glulam structure with Douglas fir decking, baltic birch plywood ceiling, anodized aluminum window... MOSO Bamboo Solid Beam
With the introduction of the MOSO bamboo solid beam, bamboo can now also be applied in
several (semi) structural applications such as window- and doorframes, where typically
(expensive) scarce tropical hardwood is used. Unlike hardwood, the MOSO bamboo solid beam
is a very regular material in terms of stability and structure (no knots, no resins coming out) and
is therefore easy to process. The maximum length of the beam is 2440mm but by using finger
joints any length can be created. The MOSO beams are available in the colours caramel and
natural, in both the extra hard high density version (tropical hardwood look - random line
pattern) and the side/plain pressed version (regular line pattern with bamboo nodes visible).
