Bean Buro was tasked with the design of a family apartment of 1,680sqft (156sqm) in Repulse Bay Southside of Hong Kong. The brief was to create a new home that enriches the quality time spent with family and friends, offering a subdued, warm and refined environment that allows for appreciation of its beautiful natural surroundings.  Perched on a lush green mountaintop, a context-rich with natural light and sweeping vistas, the notion of ‘abundance’ became a central narrative principle from which the design organically evolved. The Brief: A High-Quality Design for WellbeingBean Buro was tasked by the Hong Kong developer New World Development to design a luxurious duplex show apartment at Mount Pavilia, Clear Water Bay in Hong Kong. The project would showcase innovative visions and set a high standard for residential designs driven by wellbeing concepts. The generous internal space of around 2,500sqft (232sqm) across two floors would provide four bedrooms on the upper floor: a family en-suite, a master bedroom, a children’s room, and a guest en-suite. Bean Buro’s proposal for this 3,845sqft (357sqm) penthouse apartment located in Kowloon Tong Hong Kong, draws inspiration from its neighbourhood - Boundary Street. The street has a strong historical and geographical significance, as it is known to be the dividing line between Kowloon and the New Territories. The large apartment is home to two generations of one family – the parents and their daughter working in the city as a young professional. Inspired by the characteristics of the Boundary Street neighbourhood, a system of ornamental screens with different porosities have been created to blur the boundaries between private and social spaces. Bean Buro was commissioned to design this 2,040 sqft (190 sqm) apartment located at Century Tower 1 in Mid-levels for a young family of 3 with two toy poodles. The challenge and advantage for this project lies in the shape of the structural shell as the building is completely circular. The layout was tailored to embrace the shape of the tower, utilizing to its best the glass façade to open up views in every key spaces of the apartment. The plan opens up like a paper fan on which each space is carefully drawn, radiating towards the exterior allowing plenty of natural daylight in. Alongside the launch of their new branding campaign in 2017, Cigna recognised the need to catch up on an office trend – one which celebrates a sociable, flexible and activity based working environment. With Bean Buro’s help, Cigna moved into the brand-new office space in Causeway Bay in Mid-2018.Cigna’s 8,576 square new office is a collection of personal work points, agile workspaces, enclosed meeting rooms, collaboration spaces, and social spaces. Bean Buro worked on a full refurbishment of a 2,500sqft (230sqm) residential apartment at Piccadilly Mansion apartments, located in the western part of Mid-Levels of Hong Kong, for a family of 4 - Parents with their son and daughter. In addition to creating sociable living and dining areas with stunning views on Hong Kong’s tranquil nature scenes, the apartment would have a master bedroom suite, a bedroom suite for the daughter living at home, and a bedroom suite for the son who is currently studying architecture in the UK. The design was inspired by the surrounding vistas, as the soft curves of Hong Kong’s nature scenes are translated into the interior architectural language. Bean Buro was tasked to design a new retail showroom office in Wong Chuk Hang in the Southside of Hong Kong Island for the fabric company Cetec to showcase high quality fabrics from their own as well as partnering brands. The main front of house customer space should store and display a large amount of products, to support the viewing of fabric samples for inspiration, with variety of seating areas for customers to work, inspect samples and carry out discussions with supporting staff.
