Consisting of rough black stones, dark black paint, and heavy marble, this space gives the impression that it is firmly rooted in the ground with density and texture.These materials have weights that do not move easily, but at the same time they respond sensitively to surrounding light and shadow and sound, creating subtle mood changes.

In order to make better use of the total floor space of the small apartment in the Kreuzberg district of parts of the corridor were connected with adjoining rooms.

The goal was to create a generous, bright spatial structure for the shared apartment, in which almost sculptural-looking fixtures are juxtaposed with the rough, untreated substance of the old building. Central functions are now centered in the floor plan.

The "shell" of the apartment is designed as a reference to French neoclassicism - white walls, high ceilings, tall windows, parquet, plaster cornices and moldings... White walls highlight proportions of the apartment and purity of the architectural form.
