The owner asked moreover to think about an elegant, fresh, flexible space, which could communicate with the numerous plants: their major passion. We were asked by a couple of a local University to design a residence of compact programme in a 500m² (5380ft²) site in a gated community. The husband, a technological- research specialist, longed for different-than-usual housing solutions, and had come into contact with our work through our “Tic-Tac Residence” concept-house (link below), that had been published a few months prior. The L.A.R. Residence is located in the area of Taguatinga, a satellite city that surrounds Brasília, the Capital of Brazil. Taguatinga is one of the oldest cities in the "Planalto Central" (which means Central Plateau, how Brasília is also known). It was founded by those who helped rising the Capital, it was supposed to follow a Urban Plan, but their citizens couldn’t wait because the Government was too busy building the new Capital, so the base-camp became a village, and then a small town, later a city.
