Greek Revival
When our clients purchased this magnificent 5,100 square foot Greek Revival townhouse in Brooklyn's historic district, they inherited a beautiful yet challenging space. Over the decades, the home had served as a private residence for a large family and a boarding house, resulting in a confusing labyrinth of subdivided rooms that obscured the building's original flow and created dark, perplexing interiors. Our clients envisioned something entirely different: a warm, light filled family home that would honor the house's heritage while embracing modern comfort and sustainability.

Carroll Gardens Brownstone
Located on one of the defining residential streets of Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, this renovation of an 1899 brownstone by DEMO Architects reworks a historic townhouse around the needs of contemporary family life. Rather than a cosmetic restoration, the intervention reorganises the building through a series of architectural and environmental upgrades that improve flexibility, energy performance, and long-term comfort. At the same time, it retains the character and spatial continuity of the original structure.

Prospect Heights Row House
Lost Garden
Another brownstone cut off from its garden! This Prospect Heights row house had a rotting rear extension that left room for only narrow openings to the backyard. Hidden from view and difficult to reach, the garden was reduced to a storage yard for the owner’s collection of scrap bluestone.

We demolished the little extension and rebuilt it full-width to allow for wide French doors. The extension not only opens the new dining room to the garden but also adds a new roof terrace off the library. Our new bluestone stair connects the two levels. Finally, we knit together all these outdoor spaces using a limited material palette: black metal cladding, exposed brick, and bluestone paving.... More
