Located within a former residential garage in South Jakarta's Panglima Polim neighbourhood, Jun Matcha Club responds to the area's growing concentration of independent cafés and restaurants, offering a slower, more contemplative spatial experience centred around the ritual of preparing matcha. The project draws from the values embedded in matcha practice—ritual, attentiveness, and restraint—and translates them through Indonesian craftsmanship and locally sourced materials. Brooklyn café Baba Cool’s second location required a fluid program to accommodate transitions between coffee in the morning, and bar and restaurant in the evening. The plan is structured as a sequence of spaces that increase in intimacy from front to back. A lounge at the entry leads to bar seating and a central dining nook, with a more enclosed formal dining area in the rear. Seating designs orient around necessary upgrades to ADA accessibility standards throughout. Project Overview: A simple palette of white oak, tile, and concrete shapes this contemporary neighborhood bakery, where daylight, open displays, and layered seating create a welcoming café that celebrates craft, transparency, and the daily ritual of fresh bread.  Building Materials: The interior uses a restrained palette of durable, tactile materials to transform what was once a frame shop into a bakery. The existing concrete floors were ground, polished and made anew. They are durable and reflect daylight, while white herringbone tile introduces texture along the product wall. Rather than erasing its past, the design builds on the existing volume, using it as a framework for a new program and social experience. Positioned beneath the ornate arches of Melbourne’s Block Arcade, Lafayette is a carefully considered interior that responds with nuance to its French Renaissance surrounds. Designed and delivered by Canopy Fitouts, the café is conceived as a contemporary salon — compact in scale, yet layered in detail and atmosphere. The interior leans into intimacy. If someone were to visit this place during an ordinary day, how could we spatially express the boundary between the ordinary and the extraordinary?
