Set in Calgary’s vibrant Sunnyside neighborhood, this compact multi-family development thoughtfully reinterprets urban densification through the lens of community engagement, sustainable site planning, and human-scaled design. The project introduces four three-bedroom rental suites—each with secure parking and dedicated Class 1 bike storage—into a well-established inner-city fabric, while maintaining sensitivity to the context and character of the neighborhood.

Requested by the clients, PrickettRichard exudes a far more intimate, elevated, and exclusive ethos from thebustling restaurant upstairs. As guests enter the back-door and passthrough the kitchen, getting a quick glance at the lively food hall before theydescend the dimly lit staircase, transitioning from the vibrant energy of therestaurant to an intimate, sophisticated sanctuary.

Underscoring the creativity of the legal mind at workToronto-based Torys LLP, founded in 1941, is a top-tier North American practice representing prestigious companies in Canada and internationally. After completing the renovation of Torys’ Toronto offices, KPMB was invited to design their office in Calgary.Consistent with the Toronto offices, the plan order uses the same guiding principles: the ends of corridors are kept open, offices have glass offices fronts, and the circulation corridors are generously proportioned to act as gallery space to showcase their Canadian art collection.Like Toronto, Calgary also conducted a design competition for an integrated art work.
