El trinquet de Pelayo
Located in an old 19th century court, the restaurant has merged the essence of the Valencian pelota with the new gastronomic flavours.It was consecrated as “the cathedral” of Valencian pelota in the 19th century. It was the meeting point for pelota players, politicians and bullfighters representing the Valencian modernism. The Pelayo’s trinquet has become a historical place for the city of Valencia. Supporters of this sport and Valencian gastronomy all go there. It boasts the longest continually open sports court in Europe.Refurbished by the interior designer, Carlos Serra from the Mercadoer de indias studio, the old court has now become the Trinquet de Palayo restaurant. ¿What does a traveller expect from a VIP lounge at an airport? A comfortable space with privacy and nice areas to eat something, work or simply relax. For the airline company, this is a representative space where to attend in an exquisite way their most loyal guests. Thinking in their guests, the company Avianca trusted in the interior designer Francesc Rife to redesign in an elegant style the exclusive VIP lounges of the El Dorado Airport, Bogota (Colombia). The main feature of this model is a complex skeletal structure. This shows the personality of the chair and defines it as an almost sculptural object, which, despite its starkness, ends up being warm and inviting thanks to its shape and the natural materials used in its construction.The structure, devoid of edges, radiates such strength and stability that it seems to emerge from the ground rather than being supported by it. This Project is an exercise of lightness in the solid, a simple shape that transmits character with its discreet and light formula. The design of this chair and armchair starts from an agile expression: a high-quality leather,that like a light and soft suit, it covers a metal or wood frame. The body is a wrapping, like an envelope that hugs the chair architecture and helps doing his work. Since a folded work, from the clarity and simplicity, the piece takes shape and hides in its back an only expressive license, which is not added, but emerges from its own expression of the body construction: two holes that outline a drawing of character. It is a chair that tends to be a daily discreet company, a balanced piece able to live in any space. More

On the one hand, the structural metallic frame made of a minimalsquared profile with an orthogonal geometry which ensures the piece’s stability.
