Circle is a Spatial Work by Fausto Ferrara, conceived in Berlin as a private gallery for an international client. The Work adopts circular geometry not as an autonomous image or symbol, but as a principle capable of establishing a precise relationship between body, movement, void, light and time. A continuous perimeter surrounds and protects a central space open to the sky, transforming the gallery into an experience structured through circumambulation. The visitor does not simply move through a sequence of rooms, but is led around a centre. In a small village near Plzeň ( = Pilsen: famous for its beer) , on a steeply sloping plot framed by open landscape and a mature pine forest, we designed a home for a young family that seeks calm, privacy, and a deep connection with nature.From the very beginning, the proximity of the forest was not only a highlight of the site but a defining force of the entire project. The house by the forest quickly became one of our most compelling designs. Villa O is nestled in a natural setting on a spacious lakeside plot. Positioned at the highest point of the site with a stunning panoramic view, the 237 m² house opens to all four cardinal directions. Departing from the standard house form, this circular volume becomes an architectural sculpture – an organic response to an undefined environment. Four semi-enclosed, sunken courtyards are integrated into the structure, naturally blending the interior with the outdoors. Built in the historical fishing and vineyard village of Bevaix, this family house is located on a slope close to the docks in a peaceful neighbourhood. It offers a panoramic view over lake Neuchâtel and the Alps.The original design concept for the building varied from that of a typical project. The design team initially envisaged two scenarios for the site: one being two terraced houses, and another being a unique house with the entire living program on a single level with secondary rooms in the basement. KOKO’s brief for the Hudson Concrete House was to design a country escape for an art collector in the Hudson River Valley that could also incorporate an experiential home for his expansive art collection. KOKO was actively engaged with the site selection and several properties with existing historic agricultural structures were considered. In the end, the only land restriction at the chosen plot was that the geo-marker set in concrete at the highest point of the mountain could not be disturbed. Being located on a road of this nature faces particularities such as noise and visual pollution, which encouraged us to generate very specific architectural and structural solutions.
