A multifunctional space for PAraS model agency

In the basement of a newly built commercial compound in the Wangjing district of Beijing KANTOOR designed an office space for Paras, a model agency. The space has two skylights to provide natural light and will be used for daily work and occasional model castings.To optimize the natural daylight all-white materials have been selected. Materials with different textures are used to generate a variety within the same colour tone. Wood accents and small trees have been added to create a warm feeling in the white interior. Seidenberg Residence

Metcalfe reconceived this mid-century “kit house” by reorienting the house towards its rear yard and adding a glass connector bridge, linking a new bedroom nestled in the trees to the rest of the house. Morris Arboretum, Out on a Limb

Metcalfe worked with Morris Arboretum to craft a unique treetop experience - a place to learn from nature. The exhibit extends along 450 feet of elevated pathways within the arboretum’s forest. Our design balances perceived danger, actual safety, beautiful materials, and real trees. A visitor favorite is the “Squirrel Scramble,” an open-net climb suspended 50 feet above the ground where visitors can play and lounge in the forest canopy. “[Out on a Limb] makes you see the world in a new way...
