The location of this house, in the heart of a bustling resort town, demanded special consideration of the acoustic sense. Research in architectural acoustics drove the form, materials, and detail of the house, not only shielding the property from the sound of the village, but also manipulating interior details to create a unique acoustic character for the house, one that will instill lasting memories for the family and their guests. Light, both natural and created, envelopes each room and open spaces flow seamlessly between the outdoors and the interior. The home, spanning four living levels and a panoramic roof-top deck, is a contemporary masterpiece built with exacting precision. The use of natural materials and the highest end finishes create a warm, inspiring environment in which art and technology blend. Because of the small lot size (approx. 2,000 sq.ft each) the footprint of each house was very limited. To overcome such a limited buildable area we conceived of adding bay windows which project out from the building envelope. This is adds an additional 100 sq.ft of usable seating space to each house. There are 5 bays per house and they can be used for seating in the dining room, additional couch space in the living room and even a place for guests to sleep in. The two separate houses are unified together by covering them with an especially fire treated cedar siding on the exterior. The white 'picket fence' also ties together the separate properties as it runs along the street frontage of both houses. More

This beautifully lush corner property, surrounded with Spruce and Crab Apple trees virtually engulfed the little bungalow that lay beneath the abundant foliage. This inspired the genesis of a symbiotic design by elevating the living experience into the trees. The second floor cedar clad volume of the Treehouse, perched just high enough to be floating amongst the rich foliage, while the starkly contrasting metallic wrapped grey zinc and glass box proudly props it up, engages one in a seasonal experience through observation of the ever changing crab apple trees as they bloom and unveil throughout the year. Accessible, sustainable, and made in America. These three principles create a building and landscape that mediates a sloping site, shields itself from winter winds, and opens toward vistas of the surrounding countryside. The tripartite goals are also reflected in three increasingly visible masses: a green-roofed bedroom wing inset into the hillside; a gable-roofed living area facing the street; and a sky lit tower commanding views of the stream valley below. The site is in a built‐up area. The site is on the corner, and about half of the lap length of the site contacts with a road. Because a nursery school is a public building, it is necessary to mind the environmental consideration to the neighborhood. We placed the first floor in the road side and placed the second floor in the depths side. It is a courtyard-shaped plan. This form can get lighting effectively from the outside space of the building’s center. And it was effective for the ventilation.The road side considers the scale feeling of the one-storied house. CHS Field is conceived first as a park and a public space, and then as a sports venue. Working with the City of Saint Paul and the St. Paul Saints, an independent league franchise committed to providing a unique fan experience, the design team slipped a 7,000 seat ballpark into a remnant site between an interstate highway, an elevated bridge, a light rail operations facility and the historic Lowertown District on the edge of the City’s business district.
