Crans Montana House

The Crans Montana house is a large family home set into a steep south facing slope in the Swiss resort of Crans Montana. The original outline planning permission was obtained by a local architect and we were then asked by the clients, for whom we had worked on a number of projects in London to  further develop the design.  Caption Caption Caption Caption The style is not that of a tradition alpine chalet, but serves to reflect the angular mountainous landscape. The irregularly arranged openings resemble climbing holds, creating a façade that, like a climbing route, guides the gaze and the ascent. Inside this square plan, heated spaces coexist with sheltered outdoor areas, increasing the living spaces’ surface area, while providing an immersive experience in the heart of nature. Adrien Williams Entering through the truncated corner of the volume, one first discovers the outdoor spaces, pro... More

Rustic Grade

Nestled in the tranquil haven of a lush forest bordered by a river, this south-facing chalet was initially envisioned as the ideal mini-home to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and the noise of the outside world. Its design, the result of deep reflection on harmoniously blending with the natural surroundings, invites on a journey of contemplation and spiritual renewal. Adrien Williams: https://adrienwilliams.com/ Adrien Williams: https://adrienwilliams.com/ The architecture of the chalet is reduced to the very essence of simplicity to form an almost perfect cube. The meticulous choice of durable and maintenance-free materials, along with the straight lines of the cube, beautifully contrasts in the surrounding organic fo... More
