Atelier ARBO Designs Montessori School Library

Nestled on a quiet, undisturbed 6-acre contour site on the outskirts of Bangalore, Valiants Academy—a Montessori institution known for its child-centric pedagogy—offers an environment steeped in peace, curiosity, and purpose. The natural calm of the setting is no accident; it reflects the school’s philosophy of nurturing growth through discovery, freedom, and beauty. Recognizing the deep enthusiasm for reading among his students, the school’s principal envisioned a space where books could become gateways to adventure, thought, and creativity. He turned to Atelier ARBO, a Mumbai-based architectural firm renowned for its thoughtful, human-centered design, to help bring this vision to life. The result is a 3,600 sq. ft... More

Scuola primaria cassola

The school building must convey an educational message and communicate, through its spatial consistency and composition, its identity as a place dedicated to growth. It is a microcosm made up of functions, organized into hierarchies and connections that define it as a social space where students are engaged in relationships and experiences. All spaces are centered around the agora, a double-height space and meeting place around which the school revolves during common and recreational moments. Marco Zanta Matteo Grifalconi Matteo Grifalconi The central plaza connects to a portico through a large glass facade, providing access to the garden and the sports area to the north. The central space is adjacent to the gymnasium, with... More

Northgo College - secondary school

Welcome to the Oasis! That is the feeling generated by Northgo College's new space. It is a learning space with an open inviting library where students enjoy coming, being and staying. It is a place that encourages reading and socialising. © KuóStudio | Sven Verbruggen At times when reading is less and less popular, Northgo College took the initiative to encourage reading and asked KuóStudio to find a good solution. © KuóStudio | Sven Verbruggen In our interior design, the library is relocated to a room adjacent to the central learning space. By applying (semi-transparent) folding doors between the learning space and the library, the library becomes part of it. © KuóStudio | Sven Ver... More

Kinmen Public Library and Art Museum

Kinmen, an island that is closer to Fujian, China than Taiwan, with its special geographical location and rich geological textures, has emerged from its tumultuous history with pride. Today, well preserved villages in the traditional style of southern Fujian, sprinkled with western mansions built by wealthy emigrants, and cold war battlefield relics coexist harmoniously, accumulating in distinctive architectural and cultural layers. JJP JJP JJP’s competition winning scheme for the Kinmen Public Library & Art Museum tells the story of the site and Kinmen as a whole, while responding to its sensitive geological context. JUANZONG Books & Cafe

In 2021, Haikou City initiated a series of cultural projects titled "Pavilions by the Sea," aimed at providing citizens with interdisciplinary and intellectually engaging public entertainment spaces. As one of the 16 coastal pavilions, "Mountain of the Sky" has become the second new urban landmark built at the northern end of Haikou Bay. Facing the southwest coast, the Sou Fujimoto Architects crafted an undulating, continuous ring-shaped roof with an irregular, curved surface shell structure made of thin concrete. Invited by Aranya and the operators, Juanzhong Bookstore and Yishan Children's Bookstore, we designed a space for reading and relaxation for the citizens of Haikou under this expansive roof. The Birch Library

Hwibong Elementary School's library was created as a space where reading, relaxation, and play coexist. In the space before entering the library, you can sit on the sofa and chat, unlike inside the library. It becomes a small community space in the school. The Blue Books

Often, when you think of a library, you can think of a hard atmosphere of sitting quietly and focusing only on books. Such a library will only help you fall asleep, even if you go to read books, and it will be boring and boring. Especially for children who are just getting access to books, I think they will accept the library as a place that is not fun and they don't want to go. However, books are a turbulent and exciting channel of knowledge that allows us to travel to various places, meet various people, and provide various information. I thought books should be lively and friendly, not boring. Isn't the library a playground with books? The interior design of the library at Kangbit Elementary and Middle School began with this idea.... More

IGI Library by atakarchitekti forms a new piazzetta between an existing building and a dynamic new extension

In the Czech centre of Vratislavice, the new IGI Library by atakarchitekti uses a former Roman Catholic Rectory building combined with a new build extension to house a new library and a multifunctional hall, club facilities, and a maternity centre. A new piazzetta inspired by the surrounding historic fabric is formed between the two buildings.  Caption The original character of the Rectory is largely retained, with its deep foundations allowing for a semi-recessed floor. The excavation further allows daylight through generous portals, with an excavated pit forming the base for a new plaza.  Tomáš Souček The ground floor of the existing building accommodates the club facilities, with the upper floo...
