One Plus Partnership immerses cinemagoers in a hyperreal theatrical cityscape

In Wuhan, China, a new cinema immerses visitors in a hyperreal theatrical cityscape. Designed by Hong Kong-based interior design studio One Plus Partnership for Wushang Dream Plaza Mall, the design takes the long-established opening film credits of a bustling streetscape as its inspiration. Under the theme “busy city”, the designers reimagined the aerial views of cities in an abstract form, presenting an interior space as a futuristic fantasy. Jonathan Leijonhufvud Architectural Photography Jonathan Leijonhufvud Architectural Photography “When stepping into the lobby, it can feel as though entering a city that is particularly worth exploring,” says One Plus Partnership. BONA INTERNATIONAL CINEMA AT XIAN JOY CITY

This Cinema is located in Xi'an - this is an ancient city of China and once was the capital of several Chinese dynasties - this is the reason why the designers associate the design theme of this design with the traditional Chinese architecture. Back in the ancient times, the craftsmen had mastered the characteristics of the wood structure to create the smooth outlines of the roofs, as if a bird is spreading its wings. The designers have also referred to the famous Chinese painter, Wu Guanzhong's ink painting for this project. Wu had painted various aspects of China, including much of its architecture in a style reminiscent of the impressionist painters of the early 1900s. He used very simple and smooth lines to outline the roof of the ancie... More

BONA INTERNATIONAL CINEMA AT NANJING

Pulse On Partnership Limited’s new project is situated at Long Hu Paradise Walk, Jiang Bei, Nanjing, which is the national scientific and technological innovation base. This has triggered us to design this cinema project with a concept closely related to science and technology. Jonathan Leijonhufvud Architectural Photography In many futuristic movies, you can see the visualization of messages appearing quickly like a turbulent stream, as if the way we are living in such a technology-driven society. Inspired by this characteristic, we used various arrangements of circular holes to illustrate the ‘flow of information’, which also added a technological vibe.  Jonathan Leijonhufvud Architectural Photography Th... SFC SHANGYING CINEMA LUXE

Since the advent of sound in cinema, the film score has become an integral part of the movie experience. The designers were inspired by the film music and also by the name of the shopping centre where this cinema is located that contains a Chinese character which means ‘piano’. These 2 elements worked together and motivated the designers to come up with ‘strings’ as the design theme for this project, hoping that this cinema design will create yet another timeless classic as if an epic film with a rousing music score.  Jonathan Leijonhufvud Architectural Photography Elements derived from ‘strings’ are present throughout the interior. ‘Strings’ from low to high-pitched hung from the c... Acoustic comfort in a cinema auditorium is achieved by eliminating the background noise and preventing echoes in the room. This is the task for Amfipanel acoustic wall lining, along with the other sound absorbing materials in the auditorium. Thanks to its special design and construction, Amfipanel absorbs up to 90% of the sound that hit its surface and ensures excellent diffusion of the remaining sound waves.
