Concéntrico's Kali Coffee selected by jury as Interior of the Year 2023
Archello Awards 2023 has revealed its winning projects. For each of the 27 categories, one project was awarded by jury vote, and one project was awarded by public vote. As the overall Interior of the Year award winner, the jury has selected Kali Coffee designed by Concéntrico for a shop in the studio's hometown of Nuevo León, northern Mexico.
Kali Coffee Roasters is a coffee production company which grows its beans in rural Chiapas, a mountainous Mexican state that borders Guatemala. In the historic village of Nuenen, Diederendirrix designed an extension to the Van Gogh Village Museum called the Vincentre. The design layers architectural allusions to the works of the peasant painter Vincent Van Gogh from his time in the village.

In the context of the pandemic, the client required a congregational prayer room and communal areas that accommodated the needs of a large family, in addition to their interest in the form and meaning of a Joglo house. The architects beautifully reflected the requirements in a limited space, deriving a “distracted” form.

Moksha by Rahul Deshpande and Associates redefines spaces for the deceased
Built on a shared parcel of land amongst diverse religious groups to perform their last rites, Moksha relooks at crematorium architecture as a spatial journey into oblivion. Designed by Rahul Deshpande and Associates, the project respects the religious sentiments of the respective groups by adopting a universal language towards design while giving each community a sense of identity.

Studio Coplanar renovates a countryside house in a white and azure palette
Located in the countryside of downtown Brazil, Serrana House designed by Studio Coplanar is a 30-year-old small house that had remained unused for ten years until the owners decided to renovate it into a holiday retreat. Built on the highest point of the terrain, the house offered the opportunity to integrate nature and frame views of the serene surroundings.

The old house was cramped and lacked natural light and ventilation. To overcome this, the internal layout was modified and spaces towards the rear end were opened into small, private courtyards. Casa 27
Casa 27 is situated on a spacious plot with a privileged view, it stretches away to the eat, across the intense green, slowly downward as it plunges into the Alvor estuary and its many different tides.

The idea was to choose a natural, textured material for the cladding at the base. A vivid material with some volume, to blend with the surrounding landscaped garden, but also to offer greater lightness to the smooth plastered volume, which are the blank canvas and the backcloth of the house.

On a pastoral site bordering meadow and woodland, the Stony Hill residence by Bates Masi Architects is located in Amagansett, an early English and Dutch farming settlement on the East End of Long Island. The project references the agrarian history of the location by dividing the site into zones in a manner similar to the original pasture parcels.

The inspirations for Baan Pomphet’s exterior design come from the quality of the site and its surrounding, namely an ancient monument “Pom Phet”. By “quality of the site”, it is meant the best location that overlooks a scenery where the “Pa Sak River” meets the “Chao Phraya River”. Zellige tiles are traditionally handcrafted with non-refined natural clay extracted from the Fez region in Morocco. The clay is kneaded with water, moulded by hand, dried naturally and fired in a kiln. Glass enamel is then applied to the surface of the raw tile called “biscuit”, in multiple semi-transparent shades creating a pearlescent, metallic, volcanic or opaque finish.
