In the burgeoning Thảo Điền ward of District 2, Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam, a new social dining space showcases low-impact transformation and climate-conscious design within a compact urban site. Designed by New York-based Studio KHOA VU, “Ts Veil” is the renovation of a 300-square-meter, three-storey villa. The design introduces a quiet yet radical shift in how a building breathes, finds shade, and stays open to its environment.

KSM Architecture creates climate sensitive design for Chennai-based learning community
Chennai-based KSM Architecture has completed the “Learning Community at Quest”, a place for children aged 8 to 16 years old that nurtures interest-based activities, self-directed learning, and an “unschooling” approach to education. Located close to the seafront in the Besant Nagar neighborhood of Chennai, India, the learning community’s colorful design comprises a collection of free-flowing interior volumes that provide a sense of space and visual connectivity. The building’s design places a clear focus on addressing Chennai’s warm climate.

Ribbon House
Ribbon House is a residence with two adjoining units for a brother and sister, built on a tiny plot of 92 sqm located in a tight residential context close to the 16th-century royal mausoleum complex, the Qutb Shahi Tombs, in Hyderabad, India. The plot is at the top of a steeply-sloping lane, surrounded by neighboring houses with shared walls on three sides with a narrow lane in the front. This posed a challenge to the spatial layout, natural ventilation, and privacy of the house. The beauty of the site was an existing pair of neem trees towards the center, and views of the Tombs from a height.
